A Gift For Myself

Most believe that people are naturally selfish. It is generally believed that people just love to be at the receiving end... when it comes to something like the giving of a gift. But this is really not always the case. Many of us do remember the birthdays of people we really love and do give presents to them. And when Christmas season approaches, we do end up writing a long list of names of people for whom we'll be buying presents. And when did we ever place our own names in our lists? A silly thing to ask, isn't it?
Silly maybe, but maybe it is the one silly little thing that we should try out once in a while. Let's try and think about it. Each of us has gone through moments when we were pretty hard on ourselves. We at times push ourselves to our very limits, physically and mentally. We may save every penny we earn to give a surprise present to someone we love, or to bring a big flash of smile on someone's face. But when was the last time that we've included our own names in the Christmas shopping list or buy ourselves a birthday present singing - "Happy birthday to me"? Never, probably.
But maybe we should give it a shot. Maybe we should at times try and pamper ourselves. Have we even ever looked into a mirror and give a big smile to ourselves? Though sometimes we do slip into an ice cream parlor or to a chocolate stand to surrender to our temptations, maybe this time we ought to try and do something a little more than that. How about buying a gift for ourselves? It doesn't really have to be very expensive.

We could buy for ourselves something that has a price tag that we can negotiate with our purses. One idea would be is buying a piece of a fine sterling silver jewelry that we could wear around with us.

There are now tons of styles and designs from which we can choose from at affordable prices. We may not need to sing - "Happy Birthday to me" to ourselves. A glittering and dazzling piece of silver tagging along with us may also serve as a reminder that sometimes we need to stop and look into the mirror and release a big smile.
