How do people feel when they are in love? Happy, excited and cheerful are the expressions radiated which then makes those around will comment, “Ah sure, he’s in love.”
However, it turns out that being in love not only makes others can guess easily what we are feeling. Our bodies, too, feel the benefits. Prevention found 5 advantages of falling in love for the body.
1. The body becomes healthier.
Research shows, people who choose to have a relationship with a clear commitment are significantly can suppress various diseases in the body, compared to people who are single. This was revealed in a study conducted by Florida State University in 2010 and involved 1621 respondents.
In fact, the study said, the respondents who did not have a spouse or unmarried tend to experience physical and mental problems. This trend occurred in female respondents and men. They more often experience mood swings and panic easily.
2. As a pain-free agent.
A study published in the journal concluded, people who fall in love with her partner can suppress pain. This is due to the fact that falling in love has become a kind of reward for the brain system. The study was conducted involving 15 students.
In the palms of respondents were given a hot stone, while they look at photos or pictures of romantic couples. The results appear that the photograph of their lover are able to distract respondents from the pain. But once they are given a romantic image, the transfer of pain is not as strong as they watched images of the lovers though.
Transfer of the pain reaction was seen from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) while the respondents were given a hot stone and view photos and images. When the photo of lovers was shown, the brain waves showed the happening of transfer of pain from the hot stones which were placed in the palm of the hand. The pain is suppressed an average of 36 percent, whereas when given a romantic image, the pain increased to 44.7 percent.
3. Releases us from stress.
Recent research announced, people who are single will be more easily stressed than those who are married or have a strong love relationship. It turns out that when we have a couple, it influences the production of hormones cortisol or the stress hormone. Those who have a spouse tend to have low level of cortisol hormone.
However, this stress will disappear, if our spouse is the person who makes us comfortable and is always supportive of all our activities. At least this is what emphasized in a study published in the Journal of Family Psychology.
4. Longevity agent.
In 2000, U.S. Bureau of Census revealed that there were as many as 281,460 people aged 45 years or older and unmarried who were significantly at risk for earlier death than people who got married. Even after it was matched with socioeconomic factors, mortality risk remained high. And something similar happens in the developed countries such as Britain, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Even a study conducted in 2011 by the University of Pennsylvania, emphasized that marriage makes people live longer. The study, published in the Journal of Aging and Health, also incorporated socioeconomic and income as factors that affect quality of life.
The initial conclusion is that the researchers saw married people feel to get more support not only from their partners but also from children and their extended family. This then makes them enjoy life more.
5. Makes Us Happier.
There is a feeling of happiness that can not be described when we’re seeing a couple. This is not a trite saying, since the study also agrees to it. The feeling of happiness that comes from a feeling of love does influence the brain works.
Love is joining to release the hormone dopamine that can make us happier and excited to undergo any kind. Not only that, this hormone also makes our cognition and emotion become more mature. It is an evident from the MRI performed on the respondents and published in the Journal of Neurophysiology.
Well, do not be afraid to fall in love and do not be shy to express the words “I love you” to your sweetheart, children, and parents. Happy fall in love.
